Cast the Past –  8-10 Years

November 5, 10:00am

Dig deep into the past and uncover science ten thousand years in the making. In this hands-on investigation, learners explore the mysterious lifeforms that once roamed, swam, or were rooted to our Earth and learn how they became preserved though the process of fossilization. As a unique take home and opportunity for future classroom discovery, learners cast their own replica fossil and teachers receive a fossil identification key to match student specimens.

Capture the Wind – 11+ Years

November 5, 10:00am

In this energetic workshop, learners compare renewable and non-renewable sources of electricity before focusing on a wind turbine challenge. Working in small groups, learners apply their knowledge of forces to engineer and test turbine blades that will drive an electric generator. When faced with heavy winds, students will measure their turbine’s electricity output to determine which is most powerful!

Ramp and Roll –  5-7 Years

November 26, 10:00am

Ramp and Roll is a fun-filled, hands-on science session designed for ages 5–7 to explore motion, force, and gravity through playful experimentation. Kids will build and test their own ramps using simple materials like cardboard, blocks, and toy cars, then observe how changing the height or angle affects how far and fast objects roll. Through trial and error, they’ll make predictions, test their ideas, and discover how ramps help things move. This active, engaging session sparks curiosity and introduces early physics concepts in a way that’s exciting, creative, and easy to understand!

To Every Season – 8-10 Years

November 26, 10:00am

Join us in our Dome Theatre for a live star show.
Explore the changes happening all around you, as the sun goes down and the stars come out! Join us as we find patterns in the sky, learn about what creates a day and the seasons, and how these cycles affect other living things and our environment.

Fall Science –  11+ Years

November 26, 10:00am

In this dynamic one-hour science session, students will explore the hidden chemistry of autumn and the cozy science of winter with two engaging, hands-on experiments. First, they’ll uncover the secret colours inside fall leaves through seasonal leaf chromatography, using simple materials to separate and identify pigments like chlorophyll and carotenoids. Then, they’ll dive into a DIY hand warmer challenge, combining everyday ingredients to trigger a reaction that creates real heat—just like the warm packs used on cold days. This session blends colourful exploration with chemical reactions, offering a perfect mix of seasonal science and real-world application!

Winter Wonderland – 5-7 Years

January 21, 10:00am

Winter Wonderland is a hands-on science adventure where young learners dive into the magic of winter through exciting, sensory-rich activities! Young scientists will jump into the DIY Ice Rescue challenge, racing to melt frozen blocks and uncover hidden treasures using warm water, salt, and their own problem-solving skills, while learning about melting and temperature. Then, the fun continues as they mix up a swirling Snowstorm in a Jar in a mesmerizing density-related, take-home chemistry experiment that can be repeated again at home!

Snowy Science –  8-10 Years

January 21, 10:00am

Snowy Science is a hands-on science session designed for young learners to explore the wonders of winter through fun, hands-on activities. Participants will become little scientists as they dive into the squishy world of DIY Snow Dough, mixing simple ingredients to create their own moldable “snow” that’s perfect for building and sculpting a winter scene.  To top it off, participants will learn about polymers and be amazed by Magic Snow, a fluffy, cool-to-the-touch substance that expands instantly when water is added. This playful session blends science, sensory play, and winter magic for a memorable learning experience!

Mission: Discovery – 11+ Years

January 21, 10:00am

Join us in our Dome Theatre for a live star show.
A source of inspiration, cultural lore and a sight to behold, the Moon has always captured the human imagination. Explore the possibilities in a new era of space exploration with the Artemis Missions, humankind’s ambitious and innovative journey BACK to the Moon! Soar through space and get an up-close look at the Moon, ground-breaking rocketry and the people behind this historical moment as we boldly go where few have gone before!

Cosmic Adventure –  5-7 Years

Join one of our educators for a visceral guided tour of the digestive tract and your breakfast’s journey through it. This interactive show gets everyone participating in following food from the beginning to the very end of the digestive system.

Under the Microscope –  11+ Years

February 4, 10:00am

Students will go microscopic as they learn about the differences between plant and animal cells, through an introduction to light microscopy. Students will learn how to prepare slides of plant tissue and will compare their results to the structures seen within animal cells (human cheek cells). Learners will get a basic introduction to cell structure and organelle function, lab drawings, and how to calculate microscope magnification.
