From a unique celestial experience in our Portable Digital Planetarium, to the hair-raising experience of our live science demonstrations, to custom-designed programs that are a perfect match to your event theme. Bringing the wonders of the night sky to you, Discovery Centre’s Portable Digital Planetarium is a large inflatable half-sphere equipped with a projector allowing us to view the stars and wonders of our solar system at any time of day!
Accommodates 25 younger children (ages 10 and under) or 20 older children/adults seated on the floor.
Due to its size and equipment a ceiling clearance of at least 10 ft from any sprinklers or lights is required for booking, the room size must be a minimum of 18ft by 18ft, a gymnasium is ideal.

Above and beyond
The Above and Beyond show is an educator-led experience with engaging content about our solar system. You will be able to view constellations, planets, the Milky Way, and other galaxies!
Stories of the night sky
An astronomical adventure that integrates traditional Mi’kmaq teachings with current cosmological understanding. The workshop is centered around the telling of the seasonal story of Muin and the Seven Bird Hunters by elders Murdena and Albert Marshall of Eskasoni First Nation, with art by Gerald Gloade of Millbrook First Nation and highlights that the patterns on Earth are reflected in the sky. The pattern-based understanding consistent in this sky story is the basis of all scientific knowledge, regardless of culture.

Abrakazam
Perfect for younger audiences who will be captivated by the science of magic, this show is full of spellbinding experiments, with results that defy expectations! Disappearing water, “Invisible Glue,” and so much more! Designed to get large audiences interested in the science behind magic, and the magic behind science.
Colourful chemistry
Learn about the brilliance of chemistry as we explore pH indicators, how fireworks get their colours, and the magic of combustion. We’ll create a lava lamp while learning the basics of solubility, density, and effervescence, and end the show with a sudsy pop of colour that’s sure to elicit a crowd-pleasing reaction.

Tune it Up
Ages 3-8
Surf the soundwaves with our team while we explore the science of sound. Your group will get to try their hands at different instruments and learn how sound is created and heard.
This hands-on workshop includes DIY take home instruments.
Please note: A mileage charge will be assessed on bookings outside the Discovery Centre.
An additional HST will be applied to all costs, which will be shown on your invoice. Custom programming is available and requires a minimum of 30-day notification for development. Extended hours for activities may come at an additional cost.
