Customer Relations Coordinator

The Customer Relations Coordinator manages bookings and registration of Discovery Centre programs such as camps, birthday parties, school visits and special events including customer communication by phone, email or in person, date selection, staff & room calendar management, as well as invoicing. In addition, the Customer Relations Coordinator aids in the recruitment, onboarding, training and administrative duties of the front desk team. As a front-line position which personifies and represents the Discovery Centre, the Customer Relations Coordinator must be very organized, provide rapid response time and exemplary customer service through various forms of communication. Deadline for applications: February 8th, 2019

Science Educator (Driving Discovery) (Bilingual)

The Science Educator’s role is to plan, develop, implement and deliver the Driving Discovery program, an inquiry-based programme for grades 7 and 8 classrooms across the province.  The Science Educator is responsible for building online educational materials within the NS Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s Google classroom and providing teacher professional development congruent with the Driving Discovery program.

Working as a member of the Science Education team, the Science Educator (Driving Discovery) will consistently deliver excellent program facilitation in keeping with Discovery Centre standards. The incumbent also assists in program scheduling and educational media initiatives that help to promote the Discovery Centre and increase the Centre’s community awareness.

Science Camp Counsellor (Fixed Term)

The main objective of the job is to co-develop and deliver exciting, stimulating, hands-on science activities for camp participants (ages 6 -12) and to give the student experience working in a team setting, delivering educational and recreational programs, and supervising youth.

STEAM Facilitator- Part Time

Working with the staff and volunteers of the Science team the main objective of the position is to deliver an exceptional experience to every Discovery Centre visitor. The STEAM FACILITATOR – PART TIME (Science Facilitator – Part Time) does this by providing an enthusiastic welcome to all visitors, encouraging their interaction with the centre’s exhibits in addition to delivering programs and demonstrations on a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) topics.

Dome Theatre Presenter – Part Time/Casual

Working with the staff and volunteers of the Science Experience team the main objective of the DOME THEATRE PRESENTER – PART TIME/CASUAL (Science Facilitator – Dome Theatre (Part Time/Casual)) is to deliver an exceptional experience for all visitors to Discovery Centre’s 65 seat dome theatre. The Dome Theatre Presenter does this by delivering live, presenter-led astronomy shows and automated fulldome films within the dome theatre to our general public visitors, school groups, birthday parties, and camps.
