With five unique galleries, the Discovery Centre’s waterfront location celebrates our 30-year evolution from a tiny travelling show to the largest science centre in Atlantic Canada. Showcasing the best of contemporary architecture across four floors, it’s perfect for celebrating your personal evolution with a unique wedding that will stand out from the rest.
Capable of hosting up to 250 people per floor, with additional spaces for more intimate gatherings, the centre also features incredible views of the Halifax Seaport and Harbour.
With RCR Hospitality taking charge of food, beverage, and service, your wedding will be an unforgettable experience for you and your guests in one of Halifax’s most unique wedding venues.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the Discovery Centre only suitable for weddings that want a science theme?
A: Wedding receptions at the Discovery Centre aren’t only for the science fanatics out there. Our spaces, including our Level 3 Visitor Lounge, are malleable and can be changed according to your needs. For example, scientific content can be de-emphasized (or emphasized!) because we allow decoration in our spaces. At the end of the day, our new centre on the Halifax Waterfront is simply an architecturally award-winning space with fantastic views of the Halifax Seaport.
Q: When can we begin setup?
A: Because we are open to the public each day, setup can begin starting at 4pm for Level 3, and 5pm for Levels 2, 1, and 0.
Q: What is your capacity?
A: Our capacity for each floor is roughly 200 people standing or with theatre seating, and 120 people for seated dinner. We also have a Dome Theatre with a capacity for 75.
Q: What about catering?
A: All Discovery Centre events use RCR Hospitality Group as their exclusive catering supplier. We would be happy to provide more information about how RCR can provide spectacular food, beverage, and service at your event.
Q: Do you have a wedding planner on staff?
A: Our Events Coordinator can help you choose and book the space that works best for your event, and can work with your wedding planner, but they are not a substitute for a wedding planner.
