The Science of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!®” brings you fresh insight into the world of legendary cartoonist, entrepreneur, and amateur anthropologist, Mr. Robert Ripley. Filled with his sensational discoveries, visitors will be amazed by an extraordinary compendium of oddities, anomalies, and fantastic feats and better yet, the FACTSinating science behind them.

Live Science Shows

Ecstatic Electricity
Become part of the experiment as we reveal how electrostatic charges exist in and around us. The Van de Graaff Generator, flying pie plates, and bouncing cotton balls will make this a “hair-raising” experience! 

The Big Chill
Explore the realm of extreme cold and what happens to things in sub-zero temperatures. Colder than the coldest place on earth, liquid nitrogen will be used to flash freeze a flower and surprise you with what a balloon can do. 

Touch Pool Animation
Get up close and personal with marine invertebrates that live in Nova Scotia. Learn all about these small creatures, what they eat, how they move, and even get the chance to touch some, like sea urchins and sea stars.

A Touch of Fire
Marvel as our trained staff perform a dazzling fire show. Experience this visual odyssey and discover the ingredients needed for fire through the fire triangle.

Believe it or not, we can use a garbage can to knock over a tower of cups. You’ll have to see for yourself! 

Paper pilots, IMP Flight Gallery – Level 2
Test your aircraft crafting skills at our paper airplane station! Try out a new design or show off your favourite glider on our airplane launcher 

Eye spy a blind spot, Medavie Health Gallery – Level 2
We all have them, but never see them: it’s your blind spot! Discover the structure of your own eye and see how you measure up against other visitors 

Illusion confusion – Level 3
Our brains and our eyes don’t always see things the same way. Explore some optical illusions and brain teasers that will confuse your senses

Live Star Show: Our Place in Space 
Let us take you through the night sky and leave you with a sense of wonder about the cosmos and our place in space. This show is sure to be a hit with any aspiring astro-enthusiast. 

Live Star Show: Sky Stories
Experience the myths and legends of the stars and constellations. Sky Stories is region and time specific to what you see in the current night sky, so the stories will change with the seasons! 

Full Dome Film: One World, One Sky
Discover the night sky and take an imaginary trip to the moon with Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu as they discover how different it is from earth.  

Full Dome Film: Mayan Archaeoastronomy
Explore six Maya archaeological sites and uncover their connection to the Universe in this Full Dome Film. Mayan Archaeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe intertwines science and mythology, bringing viewers on a poetic journey of how the Mayas viewed and understood the cosmos.

Full Dome Film: The Sun, Our Living Star
The Sun has shone on our world for four and a half billion years. It is our nearest star and our planet’s powerhouse, the source of the energy that drives our winds, our weather and all life. Discover the secrets of our star in this planetarium show and experience never-before-seen images of the Sun’s violent surface in immersive fulldome format.
