Educator Showcase

Date: January 31st | Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Presented by:

Teachers, looking to enhance your science lessons?  Have you ever wondered what local organization can help spark that love for STEAM in your students?  Come out to our Free Educator Showcase – Community Partners edition.  Take part in tabletop science activities, learn about local initiatives, network with fellow educators over refreshments, and enjoy the interactive Discovery Centre.

Come chat with Acadia Robotics, Atlantic Science Links Association, Bird Studies Canada, Brilliant Labs, Clean NS, Digital NS, Divert NS, Halifax Solid Waste, Hope for Wildlife, Imhotep’s Legacy Academy, Natural History Museum, NSCC, Pier 21, and Salesforce.

The Educator Showcase is free for all education staff and faculty (including child care, pre-primary, after school and home school programs) who wish to explore opportunities here at the Discovery Centre for their students.  It is the mission of the Discovery Centre to bring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) to life through fun, interactive learning experiences. Supporting educators with lesson ideas, experiments, interactive school visits through Science on the Road and Science in the Centre are just some ways we strive to accomplish this goal. These educator events happen three times a year.

During this Educator Showcase we aim to share with teachers cross-curricular STEAM supports and ideas, provide a platform for teachers and educators to network, and display unique features the Discovery Centre has to offer.

  • Sample ‘Science on the Road’ and ‘Science in the Centre’ workshops
  • Explore our new Featured Exhibit, ‘The Science of Ripley’s Believe It or Not’
  • Take part in build challenges in the Innovation Lab
  • Network with fellow educators over tasty refreshments
