Discovery Centre Offers Free Admission on Amazon Future Engineer Day – Saturday, September 23
Event to feature special programming that will introduce local families to science and technology
Halifax, NS, September 12, 2023 – Halifax families will enjoy free admission to Discovery Centre on Saturday, September 23, as part of the inaugural Amazon Future Engineer Day presented in partnership with Amazon Canada. The event will feature a day of special programming and activities designed to help more young people discover science and technology.
Amazon Future Engineer is Amazon Canada’s comprehensive childhood-to-career program that increases access to computer science education for children and young adults from underserved and underrepresented communities. The program is aligned with Discovery Centre’s mission to bring STEAM to life through fun and interactive learning experiences and igniting a passion for science and discovery.
The event will feature a day-long slate of special activities that will introduce visitors of all ages to disciplines including robotics, computer science and engineering. Featured programming includes a robotics showcase that will allow visitors to get hands-on and test the agility of an AI-driven robot arm, completing a series of ‘trick shot’ challenges and overcoming obstacles.
Amazon Future Engineer Day at Discovery Centre takes place on Saturday, September 23, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Discovery Centre encourages all participants to preregister to avoid line-ups and to secure their entry as capacity limits will be in place.
