Ocean Gallery Facilitator (Summer)

The Ocean Gallery Facilitator will assist in maintaining the life support systems of aquaria. She/he is the person who tends to the flora and fauna and ensures that they are fed and receive everything they need to live and thrive in their environment. She/he will engage the public in every possible faucet of their work, explaining the reason and importance of what they are doing, how conditions affect plant or animal life, and encourage the public to take an active role in protecting habitats. Closing date: April 23, 2018.

Science Camp Leader (Summer)

The main objective of the position is the development and delivery of STEAM activities for campers ages 6-12. The position will give the student experience through working in a team setting, training staff, managing a budget, coordinating and delivering educational and recreational programs, building relationships with local community organizations, developing leadership skills and supervising youth. Closing date: April 23, 2018.

Innovation Facilitator (Bilingual/ Summer)

Supporting the Discovery Centre mission, the full-time Innovation Facilitator (IF) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience to every visitor to the Innovation Lab. The IF delivers guided educational programs and demonstrations, and provides an enthusiastic welcome to drop-in visitors, facilitating and encouraging their interaction with Innovation Lab activity stations and equipment. Closing date: April 27, 2018.

Bilingual Dome Theatre Presenter (Summer)

The Bilingual Dome Theatre Presenter is a member of the Visitor Experience team responsible for the delivery of an exceptional experience for all visitors to Discovery Centre’s 65 seat dome theatre, in particular, francophone visitors. The main objective of the job is to deliver live, presenter-led shows and automated fulldome films within the theatre for visitors in both official languages. Additional objectives include providing improved service to francophone visitors, and a generally increased use of French in the centre. Closing date: May 4, 2018.

Summer Science Camp Counsellor

The main objective of the job is to co-develop and deliver exciting, stimulating, hands-on STEAM activities for camp participants (ages 6 -12). The Science Camp Counsellor will gain time management skills, experience working in a team setting, gain confidence teaching and delivering educational programs, and supervisory skills for youth. Closing date: May 14, 2018. 

Bilingual STEAM Facilitator (Summer)

The main objective of the job is to create exciting, stimulating, hands-on/minds-on science education experiences for visitors in both official languages. Additional objectives include providing better service to francophone visitors, and a generally increased use of French in the Centre. Closing date: May 14, 2018.

Front Desk Clerk

The Front Desk/Retail Clerk position is an important role within the Discovery Centre as it is our first point of contact with our members and visitors. It is important to be friendly and approachable as we welcome many visitors from around the world of all ages. The Front Desk/Retail Clerk requires a breadth of knowledge of the Centre and its offerings as they are an integral point of contact for visitors.  A successful candidate for the Front Desk/Retail Clerk position is outgoing, organized, diplomatic, creative, presents a professional image, and works well within a team environment.
